Customs Clearance

There are always changes in customs clearance laws and regulations in the Eastern Africa as the integration process develops. Our team, which has the experience of such issues, makes every effort to follow the latest customs practices, tariffs scheduling, inspections, and permitting requirements so as to ensure that our client’s shipments are uneventfully cleared.

Sequre Logistics’ customs services include import/export clearance, evaluation of merchandise, import duty & tax assessment, classification of goods, customs surveying, import/export permissions of controlled goods, payment of custom duties on clients’ behalf, consultancy services, and transit customs handling.

The mandatory documents to facilitate customs clearance include:

(i) For Air Freight Shipments

Original commercial invoice & Packing List.
Air WayBill (House Air WayBill in case of a consolidation).
Certificate of Conformity (where applicable).
Import Declaration Form (IDF) & the pay in slip or a proforma invoice 3 working days prior cargo arrival if we are doing the IDF application.
Insurance Cover Note.
Freight invoice (where applicable).
Form C36 duly signed by an authorized officer.
Such other documents or information as may be required for the clearing and handling of the Goods from time to time. applicable).

(ii) For Sea Freight Shipments

Original commercial invoice & Packing List.
Original Bills of Lading (endorsed & stamped at the back).
Certificate of Conformity (where applicable).
Import Declaration Form (IDF) & the pay in slip or a proforma invoice five working days; prior cargo arrival if we are doing the IDF application.
Insurance Cover Note.
Freight invoice (where applicable).
Form C36 duly signed by an authorized officer.
Such other documents or information as may be required for the clearing and handling of the goods from time to time.
